KSSP all set to welcome the solar eclipse to be occured on January 15, 2010

The KSSP units are all set to welcome the ensuing Solar Eclipse in a big way. Astronomy classes, seminars and training camps to make specialised spects to view the eclipse are some of the major pre-event activities. The aim of kssp is to transform the programmes on the eclipse day into a mega event of science communication whcih aims at liberating people from so many blind believes in connection with the eclipse. There are still quiet a good number of people in Kerala who believes that the eclipse means the Rahu ( a celestial snake) swallowing sun and on that time if we take food or expose ourselves to sunlight we will be poisoned. By organising eclipse viewing camps with the help of educational institutions etc., KSSP strives to fight such superstitions and create a scientific temper among the masses. It is expected that more than 1000 such viewing camps and connected programmes will be conducted on that day.
